Hey,

I've just registered to this forum. I'll start introducing myself by posting a piano piece I've written last year which has been performed in Karlsruhe by the pianist Hui Ro!

Here's the music:

http://www.dgsp-rheinland-pfalz.de/klavierstueck.m4a

And here's the score:

Enjoy!

P.S.: Introducing myself, I shall also upload a recording of me playing the piano, since this is a piano forum... Here you go: Click

I guess I'll be the first to welcome you to PW forums! I'll also be the first to congratulate you for this wonderful sample of your music! (I mean the whole work).

The work is fascinating and so is the performance by Hui Ro (don't know the pianist, but apparently he did a great job!)

I could comment a bit on the score, but I'll leave this for later, after asking for permission from you (or if you want to do it in private just PM me).

All the best and have a great new year,

Nikolas

PDS. I went to 'your' website and it appears to be something about social phychology or something similar? Does this stand true? Could we (me at least) know a bit more about you, please?

Hi Nikolas!

Yes, you are the first one, thank you very much for your reply!
I welcome comments very much, especially on the score, thus going into detail!
If you post them here, other members can benefit from them, either.

The website is from my father, he's a psychologist. I'm not - I am 22 years old and currently studying music (composition and music theory) in Karlsruhe, Germany. Some day I will have a website, too (hopefully)... smile

Thanks again, Nikolas!

Ralph

Well...

First of all getting a website is dead easy and dead cheap. On webspace you can get some for literally 1 euro per day (from www.one.com for example... sorry for spaming, but just providing an example).

On the score, here's some general issues (I'm working on something right now so I can't give a precise feedback).

* There are many elements clashing. staccato dots with others, the name of the work (klaviersttuck) on top with legato lines, etc. It is a tedious job, but print it out and note each and everyone. Examples: p2, top of the page, the name of the work. the number "3" of the tuplet in bars 38 and 41 touch the legato line. Bar 42 the "3" is hidden behind the legato line. bar 68 the crescento lines towards the end are hidden behind the beams and the tuplet signs. etc...

* Some things need a bit of clearing up, not so much from the pianist point of view, but rather for a more academic approach. I'm talking about the use of layers. At a bar you use both 1 layer and 2 layers. I know it's frequently met in piano music (I'm also a pianist after all), but never the less some things need some clearing up. Example: bar 43-44. The E (mi) in the right hand changes layer over the next bar, which creates a little unbiguity.

* I know that you're German and studying in Germany, but perhaps, you could provide a translation to the terms that people who don't speak German, can't understand? " noch langsamer als zu Begin", "mehr beweg", etc. I can probably guess what it means... mehr=more and beweg=fast?slow? but it's rather risky.

* You have 1 single pedal point "mit pedal". Does this mean that the rest goes without pedal? With pedal adlib? other?

* In the first page, first bars, why do you use the 8vb sign on the low G, left hand, when in the next system you have a low F#, without an 8vb? Doesn't seem too low, or too important to use it really.

* bar 92: Disconnect the truplets (beam wise), or make the beam a 9plet instead. Right now they are confusing I think.

* Finally, find a way to add one more system on the last page, for it to reach the end! It's a shame such a beautiful work to leave "half" (not really, but anyhow) page empty. Or save a page and make it 10 pages instead of 11.

Hope these help. Most comments are rather objective, but some (the German language for example) is mostly personal... :-/
